Panchen Lama
~
Gedhan Choekyi Nyima. The 11th Panchen Lama, became the worlds youngest political prisoner, when kidnapped by the Chinese, May 1995, at the age of 6.

Since China invaded Tibet in 1950, its centuries old traditions, its culture, language, its environment & wildlife have been under threat. Tibet’s religion – the very soul of Tibet is similarly threatened.

Over 130,000 Tibetan’s now live outside their country, with more fleeing across the Himalayas every year.

The Tibet Site has been launched by ethical WARES www.ethicalwares.com to help publicise this great injustice and to show our support for the Tibetan people.

The Tibetan people have been left seemingly almost alone, in their peaceful struggle to regain their independence from one of the most powerful countries in the world today.

To be a Tibetan living in Tibet today is to be a second-class citizen in your own country. The dignity with which they seek their independence should be an inspiration to us all.

So, welcome to the Tibet Site, and onwards to a free Tibet.

Bring along flags, banners, drums! Plenty of placards available on the day.

On the 30th September 2006, Chinese troops opened fire on a group of about 70 Tibetans fleeing their country into Nepal over the Nangpa la Pass. At least 2 of the group were killed, a 17 year old nun Kelsang Namtso and a 20 year old youth.

Also
China has invited foreign energy companies to explore for oil in the Qiantany Basin in the far north of Tibet.

10 exploration blocks are to be offered after the partly state owned PetroChina company encountered difficulties in its own efforts to drill for oil.

Once again China is all set to steal the natural resources of Tibet to meet its own economic needs.

All friends of Tibet will be watching with interest to see if any Western oil firms are greedy enough to get involved in this shameful venture.
